The half million dollar Swedish ball

Today, we had to interview new hosts for our China Internship program. Both companies were very interesting and have a lot to offer future interns. In the process, we found this awesome wall with pieces of angled glass. We also visited a production house and their CEO. I was hoping to get an invitation to meet Ai Wei Wei as the CEO and him are friends and neighbors, but that didn’t happen. Maybe next time, I can meet this iconic “trouble maker.” As we were leaving, we bumped into a half million dollar ball, If I had a half dollar ball I wouldn’t leave it outside hanging.

By the way, if you are interested in an animation, art, or production internship let us know because we have a lot of those internships available.

Where to get a Health Check in Beijing?

March 9, 2012 in Uncategorized

If you need a health check for visa or residency purposes in Beijing, you have to go to the clinic in Haidian.

Their address is:

Haidian Clinic
10, Dezhenglu
Haidian District
Beijing
Tel:82403675; Fax: 58648544

北京国际旅行卫生保健中心
北京市海淀区德正路10号

The best way to get there is by subway, then by taxi. You need to go to the Shangdi, which is on line 13. If you try going there by taxi from the city center, it can be a bit pricey. When you arrive in Shangdi, take taxi to the clinic which should cost about 15 RMB. Don’t get into a black taxi by the subway entrance because they will try charging you 25-50 RMB. If you walk out onto the street, it is pretty easy to find a taxi.

When you leave the clinic, it is best to go by bus. The street is not very busy, so it is a bit difficult to find a legitimate taxi. There will be black taxis waiting, but don’t waste your time/money/energy on those guys. It looks like they took off 963 bus sign off so that people are confused. You know that you are at the 963 bus stop because you can see an ancient black car across the street. Take the bus 6 stops, when you arrive walk towards the main road and take a right. You will walk for a bit and when you are under the over-pass go up the stairs on the right to the subway.

If you need your health check results right away, tell them that it is urgent. They will try to say ‘no’ but if you bother them enough, they will express your results. You will need to pay an additional small fee and give more blood.

Remember you have to go early because you can’t get your health check after 11:30. Good Luck!
